How to add the slack2gong bot to a Slack Connect channel

slack2gong can only see channels it's a member of. Here's how to invite the bot so your channel starts syncing to Gong.

Slack only lets an app see activity in channels it has been added to — there's no workspace-wide read access for this. So for any channel you want pushed to Gong, the slack2gong bot has to be a member. If a channel isn't syncing, this is the most common reason.

Invite the bot from your dashboard

The easiest way is from the Sync Channels page in your slack2gong dashboard. Find the channel in the list and use the invite action next to it — slack2gong adds its bot to that channel for you.

Invite the bot from inside Slack

You can also add it the normal Slack way. In the channel, type:

  • /invite @slack2gong

Then send the message. Slack adds the bot to the channel, and it will appear as synced in your dashboard.

The bot only ever counts messages and reads participant names and timestamps. It never reads, stores, or transmits the contents of your messages.
